Sanath Nishantha among 2 killed in accident
Two people, including State Minister Sanath Nishantha, were reportedly killed in an accident on the Katunayake Highway.
The State Minister’s vehicle had reportedly met with an accident on the Katunayake Highway, following which three persons, including the State Minister, were admitted to the Ragama Hospital.
Hospital sources later confirmed that two people, including State Minister Nishantha, had succumbed to their injuries.
His driver sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at the Ragama Hospital.
Daily Mirror reported that Jagath Priyankara from the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna is to fill the vacancy created by the sudden death of Sanath Nishantha.
Accordingly, the government will lose a seat as Priyankara is the district leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna led by Wimal Weerawansa, who sits in Opposition along with other MPs.
