Ali Sabry congratulates AKD

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry congratulated National People’s Power candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is currently leading in the early results of the 2024 Presidential election.

Taking to ‘X’, Sabry, who supported independent candidate President Ranil Wickremesinghe, conceded defeat to Dissanayake.

Extending his congratulations to Dissanayake and his team, Sabry acknowledged that leading a country is no easy task. He hoped Dissanayake’s leadership would bring Sri Lanka the peace, prosperity, and stability it deserves.

“The challenges they will face are immense, and I trust they will reflect on the lessons of the past—both the successes and failures of those who have held power before them,” he said.

“History teaches us that the real challenge is not in winning an election, but in governing wisely and staying true to the needs of the people,” he added. (Newswire)
