Weather: Sri Lanka Early Warning Northern and North central provinces.

Early Warning

A low pressure area is very likely to develop in the Southeast Bay of Bengal from 22rd and it is likely to move towards Sri Lanka- Thamilnadu coasts while concentrating in to a depression during subsequent 48hrs ( 24-25th) .

Hence showery and windy conditions are likely to enhance over the country particularly in Northern and Northcentral provinces and in Trincomalee and Puttalam districts from 23rd. Very heavy rainfalls are also likely during 23-25 November over Northern half of the country(particularly in Northern, North-central and Northwestern provinces and in Trincomalee, Matale and Nuwaraeliya districts)

Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the north, east andsoutheast deep and shallow seas off Sri Lanka coast and South Bay of Bengal sea areas from 22nd November 2020.

Requested to be attentive about future advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.
