All-Island Final Results of Sri Lanka’s 2024 General Election Announced

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has officially announced the all-island final results of the 2024 General Election, with the National People’s Power (NPP) achieving a landslide victory in the Parliamentary Poll.

The NPP emerged victorious with 159 seats, including 18 bonus seats, after receiving over 6.8 million votes, accounting for 61.56% of the total votes cast.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will serve as the main opposition party in the tenth Parliament, securing 40 seats, including 5 bonus seats, after polling more than 1.9 million votes (17.66%).

Other notable results include the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), which won 8 seats, including 1 bonus seat, and the New Democratic Front (NDF), which secured 5 seats, including 2 bonus seats. The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) managed to win 3 seats, including 1 bonus seat.

The party ‘Sarvajana Balaya,’ despite not winning any direct seats, managed to secure 1 bonus seat.

Additionally, the United National Party (UNP), Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA), All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC), All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), Jaffna – Independent Group 17, and Sri Lanka Labour Party (SLLP) each secured 1 seat.

– **National People’s Power (NPP):** 6,863,186 votes (159 seats)
– **Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB):** 1,968,716 votes (40 seats)
– **Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK):** 257,813 votes (8 seats)
– **New Democratic Front (NDF):** 500,835 votes (5 seats)
– **Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP):** 350,429 votes (3 seats)
