45-year-old woman from Colombo 12 dies of COVID-19

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s death toll from the coronavirus has risen to 96 as two infected people have succumbed to the disease, the Department of Government Information reported.

A 45-year-old woman from Colombo 12 and an 80-year-old man from the Pannipitya area lost their lives, Ada Derana reported citing the department.

The woman had passed away at the Colombo National Hospital on Nov. 23 from a cardiac arrest caused by COVID-19, said the report.

The male had been transferred from the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital to the Pimbura Base Hospital upon being diagnosed as a COVID-19 patient.

He had passed away on Wednesday.

The cause of death has been determined as the liver disease worsened by COVID-19 infection.
