DMK ‘is playing politics over three-language policy,

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government is playing politics over the three-language policy, alleged G.K. Vasan, president of the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), in Namakkal.

Mr. Vasan, who discussed the strategy for the 2026 Assembly elections, criticized the DMK government for raising unnecessary issues and clashing with the Union Government to divert attention from its failures.

He pointed out that the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, formulated by the Union government through educationists, was being rejected by the Tamil Nadu government. The NEP allows students to select any other language as a third language alongside their mother tongue and English. Mr. Vasan argued that this opposition to the NEP would negatively impact children studying in government schools.

Furthermore, he alleged that law and order in Tamil Nadu were deteriorating due to liquor consumption, leading to an increase in murders, thefts, and crimes against women.

Without any official announcement regarding the delimitation of Parliamentary constituencies, the DMK was engaged in political activities and protests.

Mr. Vasan emphasized the need for all Opposition parties to ally to win the 2026 Assembly elections. He also suggested that the Tamil Maanila Congress (M) MLAs would enter the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
