Maithripala Sirisena says there is no conflict with CBK

COLOMBO: MP and former President Maithripala Sirisena said there was no conflict between SLFP Patron Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and him.

His remarks, reported by themorningdotlk, follow response to several criticisms made by the former Sri Lankan president.

“There are no conflicts among us and we work together when we work for the country,” he said when asked Chandrika Kumaratunga’s remarks that she is still the SLFP Chairperson and Sirisena’s chairmanship was illegal.

The former presidents were visiting the Bandaranaike statue in Galle Face on the occasion of the 122nd birth anniversary of late Prime Minister S. W. R.D. Bandaranaike.

The two leaders arrived separately to pay their respects.

Chandrika umaratunga who arrived earlier said Sirisena’s chairmanship was illegal.

“I’m still the chairperson of the SLFP,” she said.
