Salah scores hat-trick as Liverpool beat Leeds United 4-3

Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick as defending Premier League champions Liverpool overcame a nervous start against promoted Leeds United in a thrilling 4-3 win at Anfield.

“The opponent forced us to make mistakes, we can do better,” Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp was quoted as saying in a dpa report.

“We will do better but I loved a lot about the game against a well-organized, passionate side like Leeds,” he added in the report.

According to dpa, Five goals were scored in 33 minutes with Salah netting twice along with Virgil van Dijk’s header to edge out goals from Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford to lead 3-2 at half-time.

The report said that Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich claimed Leeds’ third goal on 66 minutes but Liverpool were awarded a second penalty three minutes from the end and Salah scored his 97th Liverpool goal to snatch a nervous victory in their season opener.
