‘Support of all needed to control pandemic’

COLOMBO: The 210th in a series of Ama Daham Sisilasa Dhamma Sermons held every Full Moon Poya Day according to a concept of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was held at Temple Trees.

The Dhamma sermon was delivered by the Mahanayake of the Amarapura Siri Sumana Vihara Chapter and the Founder of the Pannipitiya Sri Devram Viharaya Most Ven. Dr. Kolonnawa Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera.

Pointing out the importance of Vesak Poya Day and the impermanence of life and Most Ven. Dr. Kolonnawa Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera requested all Buddhists around the world to create a Buddha Chamber in the mind about the Supreme Buddha who attained Parinibbana 2565 years ago.

“You went there when hundreds of people in Kebithigollewa were hacked to death and people hugged their bodies and cried. How did you feel then? Your heart felt how to stop this war,” Most Ven. Dr. Kolonnawa Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera added.

The Most Ven. Mahanayake Thera called for the support of all to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the same manner in which terrorism was eradicated 12 years ago, and stressed that the entire country should unite in order to achieve this purpose.

Pointing out that hatred, anger and jealousy must be eradicated, the Chief Prelate preached that the pandemic had reached a point where people can’t even attend the funerals of their loved ones.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa, State Minister Ajith Nivaard Cabraal and several others participated in the religious observances.
