Welllawatte-Pamankade road construction in final stage

COLOMBO: Highways Minister Johnston Fernando said that the widened and developed four-lane road from Pamankada – Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Mawatha – W. A Silva Mawatha to Wellawatte on the Colombo-Horana road is in the final stages of construction.

Minister Fernando said that With the widening and development of the road section and the widening and construction of the Pamankada Bridge, vehicles that travelled one way until now will be able to travel in both directions across the Pamankada – Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Mawatha.

This section of road will be widened and developed, and the Pamankada Bridge will be constructed by the Road Development Authority’s Southern Road Connection Project (SRCP). It will cost Rs. 210 million, the Minister in charge of the subject said.

The Minister also added that this will alleviate the heavy traffic congestion in Kohuwala and Pamankada.

The Ministry of Highways added that the widening and developing this section of the road, and the Pamankada Bridge will be constructed by the Road Development Authority’s Southern Road Connection Project (SRCP).

Minister Fernando said that a sum of Rs. 210 million will be spent on this.
