Muralitharan film: Namal Rajapaksa praises Vijay Sethupathi

COLOMBO: Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa has commented reports that Indian Tamil film star Vijay Sethupathy will play the role of Muttiah Muralitharan in the biopic of the Sri Lankan spin legend, the highest wicket-taker in Tests and ODIs.

“Honored to be a part of this landmark project. Update soon,” Sethupathy said on Twitter recently.

The movie is directed by MS Sripathy and will be produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Dar Motion Pictures.

Namal, the eldest son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, said he was looking forward to watching the film.

He said on Twitter “I wish #MakkalSelvan (Sethupathy) all the best for his upcoming role.”

The minister added: “Amidst the chaos, the great news of #VijaySethupathi playing the role of legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan in the upcoming biopic ‘800’ is great news. It is only fair that actor of such great calibre play the role of our cricket legend.”
