US Ambassador Teplitz visits TNA chief Sampanthan

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader and Trincomalee district MP R. Sampanthan has urged the international community to observe the Sri Lankan government’s moves regarding the 13th and he 19th amendments to the Constitution, according to local media reports.

He made the appeal when US Ambassador Alaina B Teplitz called on him at his residence in Trincomalee in eastern Sri Lanka on Wednesday evening.

The TNA MP told the media that he explained the reasons for the alliance’s setbacks in the North and East during this month’s parliamentary elections during the meeting.

Sampanthan also alleged that some parties violated laws during the election campaign, which impacted on the poll results.

The MP said he highlighted the importance of solving Sri Lanka’s ethnic crisis to the ambassador.
